The beginning
It started with Jose Sr. and Myrna
In 1977, Jose Sr. and Myrna Grijalva opened their first Mexican restaurant on Magnolia Boulevard in Burbank. They named it after their first son, Jose Rafael, known as “Joselito.” Jose brought a passion for Mexican food and making people smile; Myrna shaped a tradition of treating every guest with care.
Four years later, in 1981, the family opened the Montrose restaurant at 2345 Honolulu Avenue. The family continues to carry the restaurant forward, with fresh food, generous hospitality, and the feeling that guests are not just walking into a dining room, but joining the family table.
The story in three chapters
Jose Sr. and Myrna open on Magnolia Boulevard in Burbank and name the family restaurant after their first son, Jose Rafael, known as “Joselito.”
Joselito's opens its Honolulu Avenue home at 2345 Honolulu Avenue, beginning a neighborhood tradition that has lasted more than four decades.
The family and staff keep building the kind of neighborhood restaurant where familiar names, favorite orders, celebrations, and new memories all belong.
